Skill-Centered Psychotherapy

This “therapy” is designed for those seeking to develop a performance skill requiring all of you, mind-body-soul. The focus is on the activity – golf, tennis, triathlon, acting, dance, leadership, managing, coaching. Attention to the key aspects of the activity will naturally lead to you – your strengths, limitations, your “way” of thinking, feeling, moving, and relating. The “psychotherapy” that is done is more informal and takes a backseat to attention to the activity. Focus on the skill technique is more or less limited to the elements common to all performance engaging the whole of you. Examples of common “technical” elements are balance, proportion, rhythm, timing, fluidity and assertiveness. A synergistic effect occurs by shifting focus between the skill and you. The potential benefit is developing both your game and yourself.
